Nationaal Monument Kamp Amersfoort

A place to remember, reflect and learn
At the historic site of Kamp Amersfoort, a former concentration camp, the memory of some 47,000 prisoners is kept alive. During World War II, they had to endure a degrading regime of hunger, abuse, forced labor and threats of transport and executions.

Museum and courtyard
In the underground museum and reconstructed courtyard, visitors learn about the history of Kamp Amersfoort. Ten groups of prisoners and ten biographies of both prisoners and guards are highlighted. In video interviews, former prisoners recount life in the camp. Historical facts are presented through innovative storytelling, making visitors think about the sometimes thin line between victimhood and perpetration.

Audioguide
The audioguide is included in the entrancefee and is available in English and Dutch.

Exhibitions
In addition to the permanent exhibition on the history of Kamp Amersfoort, there are annually changing exhibitions that delve deeper into specific topics related to this place.

Surrounding area
In the surrounding area, the so-called “guilty landscape,” post-war monuments, ground traces, and original remains are visible. These locations can be visited both individually and through guided tours.
